Bible students agree that the Apostles founded and gave direction to the Church of God, Jesus Christ himself being the chief cornerstone. Their teaching and doctrines are the fundamental principle upon which the church is built. In the days of His flesh, Jesus taught His disciples the plan of salvation. Following His resurrection, they save Him alive and Jesus opened up their understanding . He gave them a command in Matthew 28:19 and according to Acts 2:38, the Apostles obeyed the command of Jesus Christ in Luke 24:46-47.  In their obedience to the command of Jesus, the Apostles became the first in a long line of believers to baptize in the name of Jesus. Neither is there salvation in any other other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved (Acts 4:12). Thus baptizing in the name of Jesus Christ is not only Apostolic in origin, but Apostolic in practice.
